Steel Warriors is an inspiring charity tackling knife crime at its source. Transforming surrendered weapons into calisthenics equipment for public spaces across London. It’s a powerful act of reclamation: turning instruments of harm into tools for strength and community.
Visually, this assignment was an extraordinary feast for a photographer. As with athletes, my role is to create the conditions and then step back, letting them move freely and express what the body already knows. Anything I might suggest rarely scratches the surface of their true capability. Watching that unfold never stops being a source of awe: a constant reminder of what the human body is capable of.
Vivobarefoot is a brand that challenges assumptions and turns convention on its head. Having shot campaigns with them in Iceland, Madeira, and London, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for both the intelligence of the human body and their philosophy of connection, touch, feel, and presence. Their work is rooted in living in the moment, aware of the terrain beneath us and the environments we’re privileged to move through.
